I am afraid I do not understand this. I received a booklet in the mail regarding boxtops from a cereal company. I have never had cereal before. What is it? And why are they giving away prizes for collecting?

[OOC: Her prizes are:

10 boxtops - Barrettes
20 boxtops - A set of throwing feathers
50 boxtops - A new shopping basket
200 boxtops - 3 months of free pastries
500 boxtops - Her Hourin Ousai Butterfly Swords
1000 boxtops - A GROCERY SHOPPING SPREE!]

You really have a lot to learn.

I know... I know...

But can you tell me what cereal is?

Cereal is...grains and wheat made crunchy so you can eat it in milk.

Oh. I didn't know you could eat grains like that. I don't drink much milk, either.

Yeah, I don't know when it was invented but cereal has been around all my life.

And it's for breakfast? That's what the booklet claims.

I'm more used to eating fish and rice for breakfast. With plenty of fresh fruit!

When I have time in the morning at home, I'll eat that. Mostly, I'm running late for school so I have to grab bread at a store or just skip breakfast altogether.

But breakfast is very important! You shouldn't skip it.

Still, these boxtops...

Everyone says that but I don't usually have problems?

What about them?

Is it true if you send enough, you get items?

Ron said not to trust them.

I don't know. I'm trying it to find out so I'll let you know when I do?

[which the answer would be oh god excruciating pain]

((Shiki noooooooo ;; ))

Okay. If I get any tops, I'll give them to you. That is, if Orihara-san doesn't need them.

No, no. Save them for yourself. I only needed ten so I have plenty.

All right. Good luck. I hope you get a good prize for them.

Thanks. Hopefully everything turns out well.

Don't listen to a word of it! It's all spy rubbish!

This whole damn town! Back in my day if a man wanted to take your eye he'd walk up to you and pluck it right out! None of this tricky horse shit!

From: [identity profile] lovely-crane.livejournal.com
Take your eye... what?

I'm afraid I still do not understand. Are people losing eyes, too?

From: [identity profile] unless-itsafarm.livejournal.com
Not yet... BUT MARK MY WORDS, SOMEONE'S GONNA LOSE AN EYE. And it is NOT going to be me. Or you. OR ANY of my team!

From: [identity profile] lovely-crane.livejournal.com
You're so kind, Ron...

Your team?

From: [identity profile] unless-itsafarm.livejournal.com
It's not kindness! Kindness is for women and children! For men, it's PRIDE! What kind of man could I be if I let any harm come to the things I care about! I would be a worthless, gutless, sad excuse for A MAGGOT is what I'd be!

*She blinks on the other side of the line*

Ron... You care about me?

Date: 2010-08-14 06:00 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lovely-crane.livejournal.com
*She's still surprised by how many people care for her. Poor maid is overwhelmed!*

The offer did seem a little too good... I won't collect the tops, then.

Good! God have mercy on the soul of the person that tries to take advantage of anyone I give a damn about.

Cereal is a Western breakfast food.

But this is probably a trick by the town.

That's what Shiki said. I don't know if we even have any in the house.

It does sound a little strange.

Well there is some at the food shop.

A little?

Yes. Winning items by eating so much food? I will never understand this time period.

I think it's best to think of it as an incentive for people to buy things.

I guess that makes a little sense. Still, we don't eat that much cereal. I wouldn't want all of it to go to waste.
